Meeting Minutes

UMSG meeting of Wednesday, October 19 -- Minutes
Meegan reported on the University Medical Student Council Meeting held on 10/10 at Peoria:
+ There are openings on the following committees to be potentially filled by
the respective candidates.
-- Instruction and Appraisal - Keia Hewitt
-- Admissions Committee - Laura Cerny, Kudus Akinde
-- Foreign Exchange Committee - Brenda Sanders
-- Awards and Scholarships - Meegan Gruber, Keia Hewitt
+ Each committee draws its members from any of the four sites. Therefore,
candidates may not actually be selected for their respective committee. (If
you feel you have been left off as a potential candidate, or you wish to be
one, please e-mail me and I will tell Ed Lawyer)
+ The Council also wants a list of people on site committees.
+ There will be a charity ball held at the Harold Washington Library in
Chicago. It will be the night of January 23, and tickets will be $35.
+ There is an open spot (M2 or M3) on the Illinois Board of Trustees. Election
in March.
Jason Pope reported on the Basic Sciences Committee:
+ Embryology items on the two spring exams will be expanded by one and two
questions respectively.
+ The Decompressed Program was discussed, and it was concluded the program is
relatively successful and should continue as is.
+ The "Clinical Problem Index" was discussed, and it was concluded that there
is little cohesion among classes. Dr. Francis is to survey professors and
report back to the BSC in January.
Meegan and Jason were the only members whose committees had met at this time.
Search for the new dean continues. Various members of UMSG were to eat
breakfast with him and ask questions, etc.
