One of the first pre-MD/PhD student organizations in the nation, the Future Medical Research Investigators (fMRI) offers interested undergraduate students resources, guidance, and crucial connections to become competitive applicants to MD/PhD programs all over the nation.

Throughout the year, fMRI hosts a series of invited presentations by guest speakers from MD/PhD programs nationwide, providing both advice and valuable networking opportunities to members and attendees.

In addition, members will have the opportunity to participate in the Mentor Match program, in which they are paired with current students in the Medical Scholars Program at UIUC in order to learn about life as a MD/PhD student on a more personal level. All in all, fMRI members will have the opportunity to explore what really is involved in pursuing a dual degree after graduation, culminating in a career as a physician-scientist.
