Challenges and hurdles are commonplace in the training of these young minds. They constantly hope to strike a balance between the two career paths they have chosen to pursue. Many a time, a question may arise in their minds - how does what I do in one sphere of my education/training impact on the other? It is our hope to bring the various aspects of medical education, practice and lifestyle closer to that of the scientist. What happens in the laboratory DOES ultimately impact the actual practice of medicine. Each of our students has a unique research interest that ultimately influences the practice of medicine. As we try to bridge the gap that exists in their training process, it is up to each one of us, who labor hard in creating these future physician-scientists during their training to help them see the connection. The Bench to Bedside Seminar series is aimed at this aspect of their education. We hope to ask students to bring forth their research question and get
faculty from both the clinical and research arenas together to discuss
various aspects of the area of interest. We hope that this will ignite
their desire to learn more and improve their ability to blend their career
choices.
