Welcome to the Department of Pediatrics
Welcome to the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Urbana-Champaign. The basic clerkship in Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine is an eight-week program offered by pediatricians in the Champaign-Urbana community. Active participants in the program include the pediatric staff of Carle Clinic and Christie Clinic. Teaching responsibilities are also shared by many ancillary medical personnel including the nurse practitioners, and nursing staff from various departments.
Each student will be provided a schedule of teaching experiences and will be assigned to work in an office setting with a primary care pediatrician one afternoon per week. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of subspecialty evaluations or clinics, such as: neurology, gastroenterology, allergy, asthma, genetics, rheumatology, diabetes, cranio-facial, cystic fibrosis, and hematology/oncology.
Elective clerkships are offered in General Pediatrics, Neonatology, Neurology, Hematology/Oncology, and Pulmonology/Allergy.
