Board Certification

Our current 3-year boards pass rate is 92%, well above the national average!

Placement

We encourage and support primary care and fellowship career paths. Almost half of our residents entered fellowships in a variety of subspecialties, including Critical Care, Geriatrics, and Infectious Disease. For a list of our alumni, click here.

Evaluation & Feedback

E*Value is our online evaluation system, which promotes timely feedback. We have a solid evaluation completion rate, and each of our residents have monthly face-to-face meetings with our Site Coordinating Faculty to discuss his/her rotation. Newly formatted evaluations were introduced in July 2007. These were locally devised by our faculty using materials from the ACGME Outcome Project, A Toolkit for Internal Medicine Education Programs, 8th ed., and Michigan State University (permission obtained).

Research & Scholarly Activity

We are continually working to build research opportunities for our residents. Our Research Committee strengthens our ties with the University Campus as well as with clinicians in our community hospitals, involved in research and scholarly activities. Our intern year offers a 2 week Introduction to Clinical Research rotation.

Academic Options

We encourage our residents to pursue academic pursuits by providing half-salary and continued full benefits while in research and/or taking classes. Additionally, courses and fees at the University of Illinois are free for all faculty and staff. Some options include Community Health, a Masters of Science in Public Health, or an MBA.
