READING LIST IN INTERNAL MEDICINE
To make the best use of your clerkship experience and to be ready for the Medical Boards, you will need to work hard and read selectively.
There is a great deal of material available in the field of Internal Medicine, so it is important for you to make wise choices when selecting resources. You may find the following tips useful:
> Concentrate on broad concepts of the pathogenesis of disease.
> Read an overview of medicine at the basic level
> Read more advanced materials around the cases that you have seen
Following these tips can help you acquire a good basic knowledge of internal medicine and also develop the skills of self-learning that will be valuable in your future career.

RECOMMENDED INTERNAL MEDICINE TEXT BOOKS:
These texts are recommended for basic knowledge of the practice of medicine and of specific disease states. You should use these texts to read about the cases that you see in the hospital and clinics. Refer to medical journals to supplement your knowledge of those cases not well covered in these texts and to learn more about the latest theory and practice. The librarians at the College of Medicine are an excellent resource for help when searching for particular articles or books.
