What if I cannot make it to an exam?

If you are an M2, read below, but contact Ron Brewer (217-244-0659) or Tim Barber (217-383-3579) for more information.

If you are an M1:

If you anticipate not being able to attend an exam due to a forseen and unavoidable schedule conflict (death of family member, hospitalization, etc.):

  1. Fill out this form: Delay/Early Test form

  2. Return it to Susan Kies in the Office of Curriculum Management or the Office of Student Affairs (Dean Bloom, Dean Hall) as soon as possible.

  3. If approved, this information will be copied to Student Affairs, as well as maintained in the Office of Curriculum Management. 

  4. Written documentation of the circumstances might be required within 7 calendar days of the missed exam.

If you have already missed an exam because you were ill the day of the examination:

  1. Contact Susan Kies (333-5222 or 384-6695) or Becky Day (333-3786)

  2. Provide proof of a physician visit within 7 days.

If you have already missed an exam due to other circumstances (automobile accidents, hospitalization, etc.)

  1. contact the Office of Student Affairs as soon as is feasible.

  2. Written documentation of the circumstance must be provided to the satisfaction of Deans Bloom, Hall or Kies within 7 calendar days of the exam. This could come in the form of a copy of a death certificate, a copy of a police report, etc.

Please note:

Failure to obtain prior permission for the absence or to provide satisfactory written documentation within the 7 calendar days will result in an unexcused absence and a grade of zero for the exam. In addition, the missed exam will be considered the student’s first attempt.

Missing an because you have overslept or because you have the wrong date or time are not considered excused absences and will result in a zero on a first attempt.
