How to Register for USMLE Step 1
1. Simply click here or go to www.nbme.org and follow the Step 1 links.
2. Click "First-time user" within the LOGIN box. Enter required information and you will be emailed an ID# and temporary password.
3. With your new ID#, return to the LOGIN page (click here) and begin your application. It will take about 20 minutes.
Note: You will be asked to request a 3-month-window in which to take the test. No specific date is chosen yet.
4. Print out additional registration forms. To complete, you will need:
a 2x2 passport photo
a photo ID
a trip to Robin Burge for "Proof of Student Status"
additonal documents if you have changed your name etc.
5. Mail the forms and you will get an email followed by a Scheduling Permit. Print Your Scheduling Permit.
6. Note the Scheduling # on your Permit and use it to schedule your exam with Thomson Prometrics. Follow "Step 1" links to chose your test date and location. Test dates and locations can be changed up to 5 business days before the exam.
KEEP ALL USMLE-RELATED EMAILS. They will have important links and numbers.
